Project Description:

Client needs assistance with ICD 9 to ICD 10 code application conversion.  This includes the migration to ICD-10 and the replatforming of the ROCS and DARTS application from a legacy PC Cobol system to a J2EE-based webservice.  It also includes migrating the legacy mainframe Unit Dose System to support the ICD-10 code structure.

Responsibilities:

  • Refine requirements for the programming consultants working on ICD 9 to ICD 10 code conversion.
  • Develop and document user requirements, testing requirements and perform match testing between documents and systems produced.
  • Oversee the programmer’s end-product in relation to the requirement documents produced by the Business Analyst(s).

Required/Desired Skills:

  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering or a desired minimum ten (10) years’ experience in formal information technology field.
  • 10 years experience establishing client requirements, business needs and project objectives, via feedback sessions and user meetings.   Interfacing between developers and users to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • 3 years of experience coordinating work and information needed between employees and outside contractors to meet project deadlines and client needs.
  • 3 years of experience working with users to define business requirements.
  • 3 years of experience in Development Methodologies working with Cobol Developers using DB2 for  two BA candidates and one candidate experience  working with JAVA using DB2.
  • 3 years of experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project.
  • Good working knowledge of the English language and ability to communicate in a business setting.
  • 3 years of experience with ICD conversion efforts

  • Project Manager will work under the supervision of client’s management.
  • Responsible for the development, testing and implementing of the ICD 9 to ICD 10 code conversion.
  • Oversee the work accomplished by the other developers on the project, while having a hands-on approach to the coding, testing and implementation needed to accomplish the goals of this project.

Required/Desired Skills:

  • Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering  or a desired minimum ten (10)  years experience  in formal information technology field.
  • 6 years of experience following an Analysis and Design methodology.
  • 3 years of experience with teaching, mentoring and transferring knowledge to other team members.
  • 3 years recent experience working with State of Illinois agency in a true LEAD developer/COBOL role (overseeing other developers).  Please identify exact state agencies, dates, and project description(s) and provide reference name and contact information.
  • 6 years experience utilizing the following specific Mainframe development tools:
    • COBOL
    • Easytrieve
    • CICS
    • Mobius
    • Crystal Reports
  • 2 years experience utilizing the following specific data management tools as a consultant or agency employee during the past two years – IBM OS/390 DB2
  • Good working knowledge of the English language and ability to communicate in a business setting.
  • 3 years of experience with ICD Conversion efforts

Position Summary:

Consulting Database Administrators are leaders within our Data Management organization, and provide operational support of our existing database environment, development support for the creation of new applications and for the implementation and customization of 3rd-party packages, and guidance and expertise for the continuous improvement of uninterrupted operations. The Consulting DBA will work with other technicians, business analysts, and business owners to understand requirements and identify solutions.  The Consulting DBA is expected to possess and utilize significant breadth and depth of experience in the design, development, maintenance, and administration of databases, and will be expected to work with little supervision. The culture of our organization places an emphasis on teamwork, so social and interpersonal skills are equally important as technical capability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the design and implementation of the DB2 database environment, architecture and data management functions in support of the company’s projects and initiatives.
  • Works closely with the Data Architects, Application Architects, Developers, IT team and fellow DBAs to translate requirements into a complete database/data management solution.
  • Responsible for providing technical leadership implementing and supporting the physical data models, monitoring and constantly improving database performance
  • Works collaboratively with business analysts, infrastructure group and system administration group to implement data load strategies, indexing strategies, enhancements, and partition design options to improve the overall performance, etc.
  • Provides hands-on technical knowledge & leadership working to support of all aspects of the Data Management initiatives
  • Responsible for the support and maintenance of the DB2 database environment and data management functions, ensuring business continuity, backup and recovery support etc.
  • Proven skills in software installation, upgrade planning and implementation
  • Provides oncall support for production systems, jobstreams and processes.
  • Train other DBAs; author and provide technical presentations.
  • Experience in DB2 z/OS and DB2 on distributed platforms a must.
