Description:

The BW/BI Developer position will be responsible for the development, support & maintenance of SAP BI/BW version 7.0 connected to ECC 6.0 system including the following SAP modules: FI , MM and SD.  

BW/BI developer will be responsible for analysis, design, and development of SAP BW backend components and integration with Business Objects for front end reports and dashboards. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and drive the implementation of BW best practices and standards for the team.
  • Plan, prioritize, and execute BW/BI 7.0 Development across the team
  • Analyze and configure BW/BI 7.0 data environment to facilitate custom reporting and data analytics solutions.
  • Build and enhance BI objects such as InfoObjects, InfoCubes, InfoSources/Data Sources, Master Data, Transformations, Update Rules, ODS, Extractors, Infosets, Aggregates, Process Chains, User Exits.
  • Interact with business to gather requirements, prioritize work, develop enhancements to the existing system, coordinate testing, and perform change management/training for BW Reporting and applications.
  • Develop BW structures and support for ETL processes for data feeding in / out BW 
  • Design data structures to optimize data load times and end-user data access response times
  • Design processes to minimize data quality risks and proactively identify potential data issue
  • Perform analysis and design; write technical specifications; configuration and programming in the SAP/BI environment, including testing and implementation.
  • Monitor, communicate and troubleshoot issues with data integrity, data design, and functional and technical software issues.
  • Design complex, custom BW solutions or component objects translating complex requirements into an optimal BW design.
  • Perform routine program modifications, performance tuning, problem solving, debugging, and unit testing.
  • Support the on boarding and training of BW Power Users. This includes providing technical training of key BW toolsets such as BeX analyzers, query designers, Business Objects.
  • Adhere to good systems development methodology
  • Prepare project related documentation (functional design, technical design, test scripts) during the different stages of a project.

Description:

Under minimal supervision, the SAP BASIS Administrator maintains the life-cycle management of SAP systems within a SAP Landscape of BW, Solution Manager and Portal.

Applies standard SAP principles, concepts and techniques in system installation, user administration, managing system access, monitoring performance and problem diagnosis and resolution. Demonstrates excellent tactical approaches that also reflect the strategic perspective.

Work is largely self-directed and may receive general review for overall fit with the SAP and enterprise strategy.

Administers all aspects of the SAP BW, Solution Manager and Portal systems. Installs the system, performs upgrades, and applies system “patches” (OSS notes, support packages, add-ons). Supports the technical implementation of the SAP system landscape as it evolves (i.e., development, test, staging and production). Performs system refreshes; participates in the scheduling of refreshes as requested. Monitors and tunes performance and workflow

Manages the SAP system landscape, including the Transport Management System. Performs systems maintenance and upgrades as needed, including backups and restores. Solves a wide range of difficult problems independently. Identifies needed system corrections and enhancements and recommends changes. Applies advanced system management principles, concepts and techniques. Evaluates and recommends new hardware, software, tools and utilities within the SAP environment. Provides staffing for systems support consistent with Service Level Agreements. Works extensively with and has moderate influence among others within the SAP group, the IT Department and with others outside the IT Department. Provides subject matter expertise in technical and process discussions; may serve as a member of a technology advisory group. Fulfills routine communication requirements. Acts as a technical resource to other SAP support personnel and IT personnel.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Must have UNIX shell scripting experience to maintain and develop SAP monitoring scripts with email notification and integration with Remedy for ticket management.
  • Must have security experience
  • Must have HA clustering experience in the UNIX environment for SAP ECC and SAP Portal. Must be able to support active/active and active/passive nodes.
  • Must have STMS transport configuration, setup and troubleshooting experience
  • Solid understanding of relational database theory, including familiarity with Oracle database structures; solid understanding of programming concepts, including familiarity with SQL programming.

Summary:  

The position is responsible for providing support to the businesses using clients’ reporting systems.   • 3+ years experience in SAP Business Objects or equivalent multi-dimensional business analytics reporting solutions.
  • Working knowledge / familiarity with in-memory reporting tools (ex: SAP Hana, Qlikview)
  • Experience with 2 or more full-cycle implementations
  • Previous project/team leadership experience.
